When Upland Bird Hunting one needs to make sure they bring the proper gear for hunting success and emergencies. Along with your standard hunting gear: firearm, bow or muzzle loader below is a list of items that will ensure you have a good hunt every time.
Standard Equipment
- First-aid kit - an absolute must
- Knives - for field dressing the animal
- Fire starters—waterproof matches, butane lighter, etc.
- Water
- Iodide tablets for water purification or
- Water purifier
- Thermal foil blanket
- Base plate compass with signal mirror
- Nylon rope
- Flashlight with spare batteries and bulbs
- Whistle
- Candle
- Extra pair of glasses
- Extra two-day supply of prescription medicine
- Emergency high-energy food
- Poncho
- Folding saw
- Snare wire or twine
- One-sided razor blade
- Fishing line and hooks
- Plastic sheet or large garbage bag
- Extra boot laces
- Tissue or toilet paper
- Small can of lighter fluid
Additional Equipment
- A sleeping bag appropriate for temperature levels
- Hatchet or ax
- Pencil and paper pad
- Duct tape
- Biodegradable trail markers
- Shovel
- Binoculars or spotting scope
