King Salmon Fishing in Alaska
Lets face it, if your looking for world class fishing, there is only one place to go, head north to Alaska... I have been to a couple places up there. The best place was located on Kodiak Island. Larsen Bay to be exact. Just imagine this. Four hundred and thirty four pound halibut! Yes you read that correctly (434 lbs.) I am the proud owner of the stuffed tail in my office! Looking for crab?
One day we went to the lodges own crab trap and pulled out 17 King crabs! Oh what a feast we had that night.
For two days we went to a river called the Karluk River. Apparently it is ranked as one of the top ten fishing rivers in the world. Picture this, I actually had to stop and take breaks from fishing! I would say one out of three casts you had a Alaskan King Salmon on the line! Amazing! To top it off you have to land in a float plane on the river. Then hike through some of the most buetiful landscape in the world. Alaska is truely a wilderness paradise.
Stop telling yourself that you will go to Alaska someday and just head up!
Look it up, try "Larsen Bay Lodge" on Google or make a phone call to Bob Marriots Fly Fishing Store in Fullerton, California. (714) 524-1827
